New Joiner Blog: Georgie’s Reflections on Joining JCURV
The last 8 months at JCURV, where I have embarked on a new chapter of my career, have been exhilarating and rewarding and I’d like the share a few of the reasons why.
Something important to me when joining a company is whether or not I align to their values. While the vast majority of companies will define their values and write them down, very few actually demonstrate them day to day. I can honestly say that JCURV is one of those committed to their four core values. We reflect on these values every month, assigning a rating out of 5 for each value to determine whether we feel we are truly living these values as a team. This is followed by open conversations about why we each gave a certain rating and what actions we can take to improve.
We also live and breathe what we sell to our clients. Agility is not a destination, it’s a journey of continuous improvement. We have regular retrospectives, feedback sessions and knowledge shares where we take the time with our team members to reflect on past experiences with clients, discuss what we can do better and brainstorm news ways of doing things. We’re encouraged to embrace a growth mindset and give constructive feedback to help one another develop.
A lot of people ask me whether as a small company we are able to take on big, well known clients and interesting work. I can tell you that the breadth of clients and types of challenges both myself and my colleagues have taken on results in a strong yes to that question. Personally I have recently been helping one of the leading global investment banks establish a new way of working and re-design a number of their teams to optimise their flow of work – yet another example of us punching above our weight.
I could go on and on with a long list of positives but one thing that really stands out to me at JCURV is the people. My fellow JCURVers are some of the highest performing people I have worked with. They are supportive but not afraid to challenge each other, changing the status quo whilst never taking themselves too seriously. We are one team and embrace each other’s unique strengths which creates a culture that is infectious.
My journey has well and truly begun and I look forward to embracing the challenges and opportunities that come my way at JCURV.
